Processing Grief from the Past, Present, and Future, 2017- 2021
Processing Grief from the Past, Present, and Future is the name for the trio of figural sculptures that were created by Sara K Dunn. In a sense, they feel like facets of her handling of grief and trauma responses. Parts of processing, acknowledging past responses, looking at current coping capabilities, and encouraging more conscious futures. This series is Sara's way of processing trauma and grief. She knows that these emotions can take forms beyond her comprehension and understanding, and wants to simply add her own narrative and not step on others.

Waiting for the Storm was originally started 4 years ago; and was the first figure in this trio of sculptures. It was in a different reality, a different time. But still hopeless. Sara K Dunn revisited the sculpture that was hiding her pain this past fall to make the sculpture companions in the storm. This sculpture is Sara's way of processing trauma and grief. She knows that these emotions can take forms beyond her comprehension and understanding, and wants to simply add her own narrative and not step on others.

In The Deluge captures a moment of overwhelming grief - an emotional deluge. We have been going through this collective grief period for a while, but have been given no time to acknowledge or process it. This sculpture is Sara K Dunn's way of processing trauma and grief. She knows that these emotions can take forms beyond her comprehension and understanding, and wants to simply add her own narrative and not step on others.
Post Storm Reflection is the third sculpture in the trio of figures. It is after the deluge of events, of loss, and it was sculpted in hopes of feeling more contemplative and calm in the future. This sculpture is Sara's way of processing trauma and grief. She knows that these emotions can take forms beyond her comprehension and understanding, and wants to simply add her own narrative and not step on others.
