Quilt of Our Roots, 2021
Quilt of Our Roots is about embracing beauty that I have come to see in myself about my ethnic identity. (Latinx, Mexican, and Native American). As well as the beauty in all of us. This is a homage to my background and those with roots in other countries as well. In my life especially in childhood, I was outcasted, harassed, and bullied because of my ethnicity. Instead of focusing on that trauma that I know many can relate to. I wanted to create something beautiful, to focus on our rich history and beauty. I consider this work a multi-media quilt, a weaving of positivity, happiness, and pride.
Price : $800. DM artist to purchase.

Jaclyn is a Native American—Mexican American artist who experiments with multi-media in relation to life, identity, politics, mental health, the human body and emotional experience. Jaclyn was recently diagnosed with auto-immune diseases that has affected her ability to paint. Although challenging she has found new approaches to how she works. Jaclyn finds the gentle process of video-making , large scale painting and sculpting most compatible with her needs. She currently produces videos which showcase herself in relation to breaking from social norms based upon Euro-Centro assumptions of beauty. Her large scale paintings, multi-media collages, and sculptures tend to focus on her ethnic identity. Using bright vibrant color palettes similar to those seen across latin America.
